The German based automaker Volkswagen is planning to launch an all-electric version of the Up! on its local auto market later on this year, named the eUp!.
After the Volkswagen Up! has been launched more than a year ago in several markets, a new version of the model is getting ready to make its way onto the Old Continent, the eUp!. According to the car manufacturer, the Volswagen eUp! is an all-electric variant of the popular small vehicle which will be launched in Germany later on this year. Rumor has it that the Volkswagen eUp! will go on sale from 25,000 euros, which is an impressive price considering the fact that the Nissan Leaf is available from 37,000 euros, on the same market.
The Volkswagen eUp! doesn’t need a lot of energy to get moved thanks to its small size and this means that it will be highly efficient. We don’t have any details on the electric motor or battery pack just yet so Volkswagen will probably place the model into the spotlights later on this year, probably during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Besides the VW eUp!, Skoda will also develop an electric version of the Citigo, as well as Seat, which will produce a Mii electric.
