The first rendering with the new VW Golf 7 GTI Cabrio has recently hit the web and it’s offering us a first look into what will eventually be transformed into a production car.
The new generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI is already available for order in several markets across the Old Continent and, besides the new Golf R, there is another version long awaited by the model’s fans: the Golf 7 GTI Cabrio. The model in question is expected to make its way onto the market probably sometimes next year and it’s expected to be powered by the same engine as the solid roof version.
As a quick reminder, the new VW Golf 7 GTI is riding on the MQB platform and the model is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder direct injected petrol engine, from the EA888 series. The unit is producing a total output of 220 PS (162 kW). The new VW Golf GTI is now available, for the first time in history, with a more powerful version, named the Golf GTI Performance. This is getting 230 PS (169 kW). Both versions get the 6-speed transmission and the stop/start as standard. Fuel consumption stands at 6.0L / 100km and CO2 emissions stop at 139 g/km.
