Volkswagen Golf GTD going to the U.S. in 2015 image

The German based automaker Volkswagen is planning to introduce the Golf GTD in the United States in 2015, as a 2016 model year.

The announcement hasn’t been made officially just yet but according to the guys at Automotive News, the new diesel hot hatch will make its way over-seas in a couple of years. The model in question will become available to Americans starting from 2015, and it will hit the market as a 2016 model year. The official starting price of the new Volkswagen Golf GTD in the United States is expected to be set at approximately 27,000 USD.

As a quick reminder, the brand new Volkswagen Golf 7 GTD is using the same engine as the new Skoda Octavia RS diesel, the 2.0 liter turbo, which is producing a total output of 182 HP and 380 Nm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in the new Volkswagen Golf GTD takes just 7.5 seconds and the top speed of the model stands at 142 mph. In the manual version, the new Golf 7 GTD is said to return 67.3 mpg UK, and if you will choose the DSG, than this figure will stand more in the zone of 62.8 mpg.
