Volkswagen is currently testing out the wagon version of the Golf GTD as the model in question has been caught on camera by our spy photographers.
The Volkswagen Group is rethinking its strategy in the compact sports estate segment and after introducing the Skoda Octavia RS, powered by a diesel engine, and planning a Seat Leon ST FR, again, with a diesel engine under its hood, the company is now getting ready to introduce the new Golf GTD Variant. The model in question, pictured below, is exactly the same car as its hatchback brother, except for the rear end, which is now more practical.
The new Volkswagen Golf GTD will be riding on the MQB platform and it will carry out the specific body work of the already available GTD hatchback. The interior parts will be carried over, along with the alloy wheels and the brakes. Power will be provided by the same 2.0 liter TDI engine, rated at 184 HP. The powerful and frugal estate is believed to be introduced this autumn, during the 2014 Paris Motor Show and it will be followed by the Golf R Variant, later on. More on it will be announced during the French automotive event.
