ZIPtuning has officially introduced a new upgrade for the Volkswagen Golf GTE.
The Volkswagen Golf GTE is a good compromise for those looking for a hot hatch of the 21st century. It is capable of some impressive performance but thanks to its electric motor it’s not that thirsty when it comes to fuel consumption. But what if you are owning one and you would like to upgrade it? Well, our advice would be to leave it stock, but the package signed by ZIPtuning may be a good compromise.
According to the tuning company, the model in question have played with the ECU and their computers have managed to squeeze some extra oomph from its hybrid powertrain which is now putting down a total of 231 HP (170 kW) and it has a peak torque of 408 Nm (301 lb-ft). This may not seem that impressive compared to what the standard model has to offer, 204 HP (150 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque but it’s still something. ZIPtuning says that the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration takes somewhere in the neighborhood of 7.6 seconds and top speed stands at 217 km/h (135 mph), so this basically means that its performance figures haven’t changed at all. We are not even sure how much this upgrade package costs or if it is available for order, but it’s a start.
