Volkswagen has revealed its Golf GTI Edition 35. With impeccable timing, it follows the Edition 30 of 2006 and the 25th Anniversary Edition of ten years ago.
It celebrates the hot hatchback’s increasing legacy, which now stretches well into its fourth decade.
While the Edition 30 offered 170kW (230hp), this anniversary model squeezes out a few more wasps, with 175kW (235hp) on tap – up from 155kW for the regular GTI.
Visual differences over the standard GTI include new body-colored side skirts, a chin spoiler as well as unique front and rear bumpers. Tinted taillights, 18-inch alloys and small ‘35’ badging finish off the exterior styling. Inside, the car comes with new sports buckets with leather trim and “Edition 35” labels throughout.
Volkswagen hasn’t said a word about availability here in the United States just yet, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. The Golf GTI 35 Edition makes its official debut at the infamous GTI Meet in Wörthersee, Germany, on June 1st.
