The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently announced that the Golf model is the best-selling car in Europe.
According to the car manufacturer, even if the company’s sales have declined by two percent last year, the Volkswagen Golf is still the best-seller in Europe in 2011. Volkswagen says that only last year, 484.547 units of the Golf model have been sold in Europe, and the popular model has been followed by the small Polo, which was chosen by 356.490 people. The Volkswagen Polo has overtaken the Ford Fiesta, where 348.465 units of the model have been sold last year, being followed by the rivals at Opel / Vauxhall and their Corsa, with 313.325 units and the Renault Clio, with 294.172.
In other words, the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf, MK VII, will be officially presented to the public at this year’s Paris Auto Show. The Golf VII will ride on the new MQB platform, which has recently made its debut on the Cross Coupe Concept, but even so, there’s no official word on the model yet. The new generation of the VW Golf is expected to be powered by a variety of petrol and diesel engines, but the BlueMotion, the GTI and even the R models will be made.
