Volkswagen Golf R gets priced in the U.S. image

The official starting price of the new Volkswagen Golf R has been announced recently in the United States as the model in question will kick off sales at 36, 595 USD, including the 820 USD destination charge.

The five-door hot hatch Volkswagen Golf R will become available on pre-order for the first 500 units and this will be the most powerful Golf ever sold in the United States. The model is coming with standard features including the bi-xenon headlights, 18-inch rims, ambient lighting, SiriusXM Satellite radio, 5.8-inch touch screen display, Bluetooth and iPod support, heated front seats, push button start, keyless access, rearview camera, dual-zone climate control, 12-way power driver’s seat and so on.

Volkswagen says that the first 500 units of the model will come with a numbered R Accessories kit and later on, the 6-speed manual transmission will be introduced too. Power to the hot hatch is being provided by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which is producing 36 HP (27 kW) and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) more than its predecessor, to a total of 292 HP (218 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is connected to a 6-speed DSG transmission, sending power to the 4MOTION AWD system.
