Volkswagen has officially announced the starting price of the new Golf R Wagon in Australia.
According to the car manufacturer, the cheapest version of the range-topping Volkswagen Golf R Wagon will become available from 58,990 AUD, plus the on-road costs, once this will become available for order this September, in the Pacific country. The local media says that a Wolfsburg Edition of the Golf R hatchback will arrive at the same time and this will be priced from 56,990 AUD, coming with features such as the 19-inch Pretoria black alloy wheels, black side mirror casings, matching roof rails for the wagon, Carbon Nappa leather upholstery for the seats and so on.
The Wolfsburg Edition models are getting the Limestone Grey metallic, the Lapiz Blue or the Oryx White pearl finishes for their bodies and standard features include the blind spot monitor, city emergency braking on the front assist, adaptive cruise control and proactive occupant protection system. The Discover Media sat-nav, with the 6.5-inch touch screen display, has been also added, along with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and so on. The hot hatch and the “hot wagon” are both sharing the same 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under their hoods. This is capable of producing a total output of 206 kW and it has a peak torque of 380 Nm, enough for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint made in 5.0 seconds for the hatchback and 5.1 seconds for the wagon. Power is sent to the 4Motion AWD system through a 6-speed DSG.
