Volkswagen has introduced the most powerful production Golf in history, the new Golf R, to Australia, where the hot hatch is now available for order starting at 51,990 AUD.
The new VW Golf R Mk7 is now 2,000 AUD more expensive than its predecessor, being available for order from 51,990 AUD, for the base entry-level version. If the DSG dual clutch six-speed transmission is what you’re looking for, than get ready to pay 2,500 AUD more over the six-speed manual version, to a total of 54,490 AUD. Three driving modes are offered from its adaptive chassis control, Comfort, Normal and Race, each modifying the damping force and the latter being tuned for the most dynamic handling performance.
The Volkswagen Golf R is taking its power from a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged direct injected engine, which is producing a total output of 206 kW, between 5,100 and 6500 rpm, and 380 Nm of torque, available between 1,800 and 5,100 rpm. Power is being sent to the 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 5.0 seconds with the DSG and 5.2s with the manual and the average fuel consumption stands at 7.3 liters / 100 km for the manual and at 7.1 liters / 100 km with the DSG.
