A new report is indicating that the impressive Volkswagen Golf R400 has been approved for production and that the model in question should be hitting the assembly line next year.
In case you have forgotten all about the Volkswagen Golf R400, we will remind you that this is a high performance version of the popular hatchback which has been introduced not too long ago and the good news is that rumor has it that it will be receiving a production version. If the report turns out to be true, than the hot hatch will be positioned above the current Golf R in terms of performance.
According to the guys from Car Magazine, the production model will follow the same path as the concept and it will be coming with a similar body kit and with some aerodynamic styling tweaks. The vehicle will go on against models such as the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG or the upcoming Ford Focus RS and it will be packing a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine under its hood, producing no less than 400 HP (294 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint should take 3.9s and top speed should stand at 280 km/h (174 mph).
