The final production version of the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid has been officially presented to the public during the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid has been presented earlier this year as a concept, during the 2012 Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS) but the one unveiled recently in Los Angeles is actually the final production version. According to the German based automaker, the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid will go on sale in the United States this year as a 2013 model year and its prices will start at 24,995 USD, without the 795 USD destination charge.
The Jetta Hybrid is Volkswagen’s second hybrid vehicle to make its way into the United States, after the Touareg and the model is powered by a 1.4 liter four-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine, with direct injection, which is producing 147 HP and 184 lb-ft of torque (250 Nm). The petrol burner is assisted by an electric motor which is generating 27 HP (20 kW) and the hybrid powertrain is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission which is sending power to the front-wheel drive.
