The Volkswagen Passat GTE plug-in hybrid has been launched on its local market recently.

Customers looking for a mid-size vehicle with a plug-in hybrid powertrain will now have the opportunity of buying the Volkswagen Passat GTE. The model is available in sedan and estate body styles and, on its local market, it is coming from 44,250 euros and 45,250 euros, respectively. The Ford Mondeo competitor has the C-shaped LED daytime running lights, the redesigned front bumper, the chrome radiator grille with the blue line, the exclusive 17-inch Astana alloy wheels covering the blue brake calipers and several other goodies to put some distance between it and the regular Passat.

The interior design of the model is getting the blue ambient lighting, the blue decorative stitching on the leather trimmed multi function steering wheel, the blue stitching on the GTE specific gear knob, the Sevilla cloth seats with the blue basic structure, the specific menu for the displays and functions of the Composition Media and more. Under its hood, we can find the 1.4 liter TSI petrol engine, with 156 HP (115 kW), backed up by the 115 HP (84 kW) and 400 Nm (243 lb-ft) electric motor. The total output produced is 218 HP (160 kW) and it is sent to the wheels through a 6-speed dual clutch transmission. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), this needs 7.4 seconds and top speed is 220 km/h (137 mph). In all electric mode, the model can travel for 50 km (31 miles) at a top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph). The fuel consumption stands at as low as 1.6L / 100km (176.5 mpg UK / 147 mpg US) and the CO2 emissions stop at 37 g/km.
