Volkswagen is planning to put the NMC Concept into production as the model in question will be rivaling models such as the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
The German based automaker Volkswagen will be introducing a production version of the recently unveiled NMC (New Midsize Coupe) Concept, which will become a rival to the Mercedes-Benz CLA. The model in question will be based on the MQB architecture and it will be assembled in Mexico. Despite being similar to the Audi A3 Sedan, the VW vehicle won’t steal sales from its brother because the pricing strategy will be making a lot of difference.
The Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe Concept was officially unveiled during the 2014 Beijing Motor Show and it has a familiar VW face, with a simple grille and LED headlights. The model in question is also getting fameless doors, a curved roofline, a notchback-style rear inspired from the CC. The NMC is wider than a Passat and lower than a Jetta, coming with a Dragon Red paint scheme and 20-inch wheels, wrapped in low profile tires. Power is provided by a 2.0L TSI four-cylinder engine, producing 220 HP (162 kW). The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is made in 6.5 seconds and top speed is 244 km/h (151 mph).
