Volkswagen has released several details on the new Passat GTE, as the model is becoming available for order across the Old Continent this summer.
Originally unveiled during the 2014 Paris Motor Show, back in September last year, the new Volkswagen Passat GTE is now getting ready to arrive to its future customers living in Europe, but before this will happen, the carmaker is placing it into the spotlights once again. The model will be offered from 44,250 euros in a four-door sedan, in Germany, and from 45,250 euros in the more practical estate variant. This will be easily distinguishable thanks to its chrome radiator grille with a blue line, an updated front bumper, blue brake calipers, 17-inch exclusive Astana alloy wheels and more.
The interior design of the car has the blue decorative stitching, leather trimmed multi-function steering wheel, GTE specific gear knob, Sevilla cloth seats and others. Power is being provided by a 156 HP (115 kW) 1.4 liter TSI petrol burner, along with a 115 HP (84 kW) and 400 Nm (243 kW) electric motor. The total output sent to the front-wheel drive through a 6-speed automatic transmission with a double-clutch stands at 218 HP (160 kW) and it is allowing the model to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 7.4 seconds and to go up to a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph). VW says that the Passat GTE can travel for 50 km (31 miles) and at a top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph) in all electric mode. The fuel consumption stands at 1.6L / 100km.
