The German based automaker Volkswagen is planning to produce a direct rival for the Subaru Outback, which will be based on the seventh generation of the Golf.
Volkswagen is looking forward to expand its lineup and to offer a variety of vehicles in its showrooms worldwide and one of these models will become a direct rival of the Subaru Outback. The model in question hasn’t been officially confirmed by the carmaker just yet but rumors are saying that this has a great chance of hitting the production line and what is mostly important is that VW will use the new MQB platform for this.
According to the guys at Automotive News, the new Volkswagen rival for the Subaru Outback will actually be a modified version of the new Golf generation. This will be fitted with all-wheel drive and it will get a more rugged look, which will “tell” its future owners that it’s ready to go off-road. The model in question will probably be named the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, considering the fact that the carmaker is already offering such a version of the Passat, in some markets. Additional details on the new Subaru Outback rival signed by VW remain unknown for the moment.
