Volkswagen is planning to pull the wraps off the new Polo R during the Geneva Motor Show next year and it will be influenced by the WRC Street Concept.
The upcoming Volkswagen Polo R has already been spied while being tested so the fact that the company is working on its development is no longer a surprise anymore, but what comes as something new is a rumor which is saying that the upcoming supermini will be officially presented to the public during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March. The same rumor is also saying that the VW Polo R will be influenced by the WRC Street Concept, which will have the last word.
The Volkswagen Polo R is expected to get a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under its hood, which should develop a total output of 225 horsepower (168 kW), and this might be enough to allow the hot hatch to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately six seconds, before reaching a top speed of 241 km/h (150 mph). Besides the Volkswagen Polo R, the German based automaker will also launch the Golf R in either 2013 or 2014. No more details are being known on the Polo R for the moment.
