Volkswagen has released new images with the production version of the Polo R WRC, which will et you back for 33,900 euros in Germany if you dare to take it home.
The Volkswagen Polo R WRC is definitely the hottest version of the B-segment hatchback ever produced by the carmaker but the question “Why did VW release it on the market” can be easily answered: the company has to produce 2,500 road going versions before FIA will homologate it as a rally car. Besides the decals and the obvious name, the Polo R WRC production version and its racer “twin” have very little in common.
Power to the VW Polo R WRC is provided by a 2.0 liter Golf GTI engine, producing a total output of 217 HP, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This is being sent to the front-wheel drive, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.4 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the Golf GTI, before reaching a top speed of 243 km/h (151 mph). The model has a sports suspension, an electronic differential lock, 18-inch Cagliari wheels, sports seats, cruise control, winter package, climate control, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, radio / navigation unit and much more. Prices for the model have been set at 33,900 euros.
