Volkswagen releases Golf Sportsvan R-Line image

The German automaker has taken the wraps off the new Golf Sportsvan – which serves as a replacement for the older Golf Plus – and coming complete with the R-Line bells and whistles.

There’s arguably another niche in the making – German MPV models (or Tourer as they like to call them) with an aerodynamic body kit right from the get go: BMW and Mercedes offer such versions and now Volkswagen has also joined the party. The Sportsvan of course comes packing all the range of engines shared with the standard Golf, but from now on the owners can also add the R Line amenities. It’s not going to look as menacing as the Golf R but the tuning kit does go a long way into transforming a rather boring family vehicle into a more lifestyle accessory. The “first stage” tuning kit comes at a price of €1,105 in Germany and packs the R-Line front and rear bumpers as well as sill extensions – exclusive features also include the R-Line upper grille and the bigger air intakes with black blades. More polish is brought by the dark tinted taillights, exhaust trim piece, and anodized silver roof rails.

You can also boast the R-Line interior package which is way more expensive at €1,800 – but you do get all the aforementioned exterior changes and also new seats with a racing feel inner side supports in microfiber fabric, a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel stainless steel pedals, and front door sills with the R-Line badge. Additionally, 17-inch “Salvador” or 18-inch “Salvador,” “Marseille,” or “Serron” alloy wheels can be added.
