The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently released a new teaser image with a new model, which might be the 2014 Golf R.
Volkswagen is apparently getting ready for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, which will officially open its gates on the 10th of August, and it seems that the brand’s main attraction might be the high performance version of the new Golf generation, the “R”. The teaser image posted above has been released by the company but we don’t actually know what model it’s representing and our best guess is that this will be the brand new VW Golf R.
The new Golf R will get a more aggressive look and LED infused headlights, if we should judge by the image posted above, and if we look closer we can actually see the “R” badge on the front grille. The Volkswagen Golf R is believed to be powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, which might develop a total output of at least 286 HP (213 kW) and 379 Nm of torque (280 lb-ft). The unit will probably be mated to a dual-clutch transmission which will send power to the Haldex all-wheel drive system. The model is believed to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
