Volkswagen has recently announced that the imported Tiguan crossover has been launched in China and the model has a starting price of 340, 000 rmb.
After the German based automaker has released a new and unique commercial video with the Tiguan, Volkswagen has decided that time has come for the small crossover to gain some new customers in China, where it will be available as an imported model. The “Chinese” Volkswagen Tiguan is coming with the 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine which is burning an average of just 6 liters of fuel every 100 km, saving actually 30 percent more fuel than the gasoline burning rival. Only two trim levels of the VW Tiguan will be available in China, and the entry-level version has been priced at 342,500 rmb, while the top of the line costs 385,900 rmb.
As a small reminder, the Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover made on the PQ35 platform, the same one used by the VW Golf. Production of the Tiguan has started in late 2007 in Wolfsburg, Germany, and a year before, the model has been announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show as a concept vehicle. The full production version of the Tiguan was revealed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and made its debut one year later in Europe and two years later in North America. The model is coming in a four-door body style with a front engine, 4motion four-wheel drive layout or with the front-wheel drive as optional.
