Volkswagen to develop new crossovers image

The German based automaker Volkswagen is planning to develop new crossovers and the lineup will include a new Tiguan, a Cross Coupe Concept, CC variants, LWB versions and more.

The car manufacturer isn’t saying anything on this subject for the moment but if we learned one thing over the years is that whenever a rumor appears and the company won’t say anything about, chances are that that rumor is the real thing. According to the guys at Automobile Magazine, the German based automaker will develop new crossovers and the lineup will include a new generation of the Tiguan, a production version of the Cross Coupe, which will eventually receive LWB and CC variants and more.

The company is also considering the VW Up! Alltrack, which will get all-wheel drive, the Golf Alltrack and the Touran Alltrack for 2015. While everything seems to go well with the carmaker, the breakup with Suzuki has delayed the Polo-based crossover, which will battle with the Opel Mokka, the Peugeot 2008 and more. Rumors are saying that even so, the Polo based SUV is under development and it’s expected to use the MQB-A0 platform and share some basic components with the future Skoda Yeti and Seat Tribu.

Under the hood, the Polo based SUV will get a 1.4 liter TSI engine with outputs ranging from 105 HP to 150 HP, along with a possible 1.4 liter TDI Diesel with 95 HP and a 2.0 liter TDI diesel with 115 HP and 150 HP. Volkswagen is also considering a production version of the Cross Coupe, which will eventually give birth to a CC and a long wheelbase version in 2015. As for the future Touareg generation, its MLBevo platform will also be used by Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley or Audi.
