Volkswagen updates the Golf Cabriolet just when the season is almost over image

The German automaker reckons the best times to drive a cabriolet are during the mild days of autumn and spring, thus delivering the slightly updated Golf Cabriolet just as the summer comes to its conclusion.

In a bid to counter the popular “Winter is Coming” saying from the Game of Thrones epic series, the Golf Cabriolet for the 2016 model year comes with particularly mild enhancements – sportier exterior, new colors and an updated interior. The four-seater soft-top best seller will naturally adorn the booth of the German brand during the days of the 2015 IAA Frankfurt motor show come mid-September. The exterior revisions include a new, more dynamic front bumper, upgraded side sills and sportier features of the rear bumper. The convertible is available to order with a host of six new exterior paints and six new wheel designs. Changes to the interior are also limited and include a new steering wheel as well as new trim elements or designs for the cloth and leather-wrapped seats. More interesting, the new Composition Colour and Composition Media radio/infotainment systems also make an appearance. The latter has Car-Net, the Guide & Inform as well as the App Connect smartphone integration.

The engine range has remained the same but its technologies have been updated to come in line with the Euro 6 emissions standard. There are four petrol and two diesel engines featuring the known TSI and TDI monikers, with powers offering a wide range of choice – from as low as 105 horsepower to a hot-hatch worthy 220 PS.
