The all new S90 and V90 models come hot on the heels of the successful launch of the XC90 crossover, all three using the same SPA platform and delivering the new face of the Swedish company.
With the XC90 crowned as the North American Truck of the Year, it’s only a matter of time before the beautiful Scandinavian-styled S90 and V90 start gathering their own roster of prizes. Before that happens, eager clients will be able to start ordering their own desired version – if they live in the United Kingdom. Starting off, the S90 midsize premium sedan will go from 32,555 British pounds and will be available with two powertrains: turbodiesel 2.0-liter engines in both versions. The D4 comes with 90 horsepower and 400 Nm and will only be available as a front wheel drive version with power sent via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The stronger D5 Power Pulse will retail from £39,555 and for that money the owner will get 235 hp, 480 Nm, and standard all-wheel drive – with the same eight-speed automatic. The V90 station wagon uses the exact same powertrain layouts, with the D4 going from £34,555 and the D5 costing at least £41,555.
Standard amenities offered on the S90 and V90 when selecting the entry-level Momentum trim level include LED headlights, leather upholstery, dual zone automatic climate control system with CleanZone air-filtration technology, and a standard nine-inch Sensus infotainment system that also packs sat-nav (with lifetime annual map updates), Apple CarPlay, voice control, Internet access, and cloud-based apps. Both models also pack an electric trunk opening system and Volvo’s Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, which is able to gently steer at up to 80 mph to try and maintain the vehicle in inside its lane markings.
The Inscription trim level starts from £35,555 on the S90 and £37,555 on the V90 and adds Nappa soft leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster display, powered front seats, 18-inch diamond-cut/silver alloys, keyless entry, handsfree trunk opening, chrome body accents, rear footwell and side step illumination, and walnut interior inlays. For even more money buyers can ask the Xenium pack with powered tilt and side glass sunroof, a 360-degree parking camera system, and Park Assist Pilot.
