The Volvo Car Group had a good August in the car sales department with a growth of 8.4%, climbing to sales of 29,257 cars.
Compared to last year’s figures, sales in China this month jumped a massive 42.2%, with the Volvo XC60 crossover being the best-selling model, followed closely by the S60L sedan. The European market for Volvo has also been on a roll, with new car sales inching up 19.4% versus last year as the Volvo XC60 and the V40 car models boosted sales to 8,918 units. With Germany and France growing more than 50% in August, the Volvo V40 gets to be the best-selling car model in Europe.
Alain Visser, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Cars stated that “with continued positive developments in key markets, Volvo Cars is clearly on track towards an all-time high sales result for this year. I am also extremely pleased with the positive reactions we saw at the global launch of the all-new Volvo XC90, which shows that we have chosen the right direction for our future models.”
The United States were Volvo’s second largest market with 4,961 retail cars sold, the Volvo S60 and XC60 being the best-selling models during August. This was Volvo Car’s 14th month of increased sales in a row with year-to-date sales of 294,709 cars, reporting a 9.2% growth compared to 2013.
