The Swedish automaker is on the roll these days, with critical and commercial success for its newly introduced XC90 and eager clients awaiting the all new S90 and V90 sedan and wagon.
To make the largest passenger cars it has even more appealing, the standard versions – already appealing – have been complimented by the newly introduced R-Design package. Volvo released over a year ago the R-Design on the XC90 crossover and now the other SPA platform sporting models, the S90 and V90, are adopting it. The S90 and V90 can be ordered from now on with an optional “performance-inspired” R-Design kit – it adds a more dynamic chassis setup for an “energetic, road-hugging drive.” The R-Design also includes a sportier – but still subtle – body kit enhancement – we have spoiler-integrated fog lights and a slightly different grille design. Piano black trim is used front and back, with exterior modifications complimented by the new five-spoke diamond-cut wheels with matte black appearance.
Going inside the owner will find new decorations for the trim and other pedals. We also noticed the sporty contour seats and an exclusive steering wheel, the new floor mats and an illumination package crafted specifically for the R-Design. Volvo has opened the order books without specifying the price premium over the respective standard models. We do know the XC90 R-Design can command between $1,900 and $5,400, depending on the engine and version.
