Volvo is planning to develop a hot hatch version of the V40 which will probably be named the V40 Polestar.
After Volvo and Polestar have joined forces in order to develop a direct rival for the BMW M5, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and the Audi RS6, the two companies won’t stop here. Rumors are saying that Volvo and Polestar will also make a hot hatch version of the new V40, which will most likely be named the Volvo V40 Polestar, and this model will go against the BMW M135i, the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and the Audi S3.
The Volvo V40 Polestar is expected to use the five-cylinder T5 engine, which will generate around 250 HP, sent to the front wheels at first and to an all-wheel drive system after that. An even hotter version of the Volvo V40 T5 AWD Polestar might also hit the market eventually, with as much as 300 horsepower. More details on the Volvo V40 Polestar are expected to be announced in September, during the Paris Motor Show.
As a quick reminder, the all-new Volvo V40 Polestar has been officially presented to the public in a world premiere during this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March and the model is already available for its future customers in several markets across the Old Continent, being priced at 19,745 GBP in the UK for the entry-level version.
