The Swedish automaker with Chinese patronage has just finished revealing the new generation models for the top roster of its line-up, the XC90 crossover and S90 & V90 sedan and station wagon duo.
Now the next beak leap forward will be the rework of the midsize models – and they may very well respect the same schedule and first rework the XC60 sport utility vehicle – with the second generation XC60 imagined here from the digital artist’s perspective. The render imagines the new generation model of the XC60 – a major bestseller for the Swedes – with sales of 77,197 units last year, at the top of the premium midsize SUV segment at home in Europe. While the model is in its final part of the lifespan of the current generation, deliveries have actually been growing – but while other carmakers usually take the cautious path of an evolutionary design it won’t be the case with Volvo.
That’s because the Swedes have an all new design language to look up to and it’s pretty revolutionary compared to previous iterations. The XC60 most likely will be underpinned by the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) seen on the 90 trio alongside the exclusive use of four-cylinder engines. This rendering may very well be very close to reality, as the company is expected to deploy a sporty, dynamic styling language to go well with the weight reduction. The official presentation may very well come for the XC60 this fall during the Paris Motor Show.
