Volvo XC90 Lounge Console Concept breaks cover in Shanghai image

The 2015th edition of the Shanghai Auto Show has seen the world debut of the new Volvo XC90 Lounge Console Concept.

The Swedish based automaker Volvo has officially pulled the wraps off the XC90 Lounge Console Concept. The model in question is replacing the front passenger seat with a large work table, opening to reveal an illuminated vanity mirror with a storage tray for jewelry, make-up or personal accessories. This is rotating 90 degrees and it can power forward to display the large 17-inch media screen. Volvo says that there is an additional space for shoes and a lockable storage box below the leg rest area.

“A key element in our thinking was how to make the available interior space work for the occupants in an optimal and luxurious fashion. Removing the passenger seat enabled us to create an open space that dramatically changes the dynamics of the interior and led to a firework of ideas and new possibilities”, said the Volvo Car Group vice president of Design, Thomas Ingenlath.

Just like you have probably gotten used to by now, carmakers attending the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show aren’t revealing that much on their display cars and Volvo makes no exception. Except for the facts mentioned above, the company hasn’t disclosed anything extra on this one-off model. However, you can check it out for yourselves in the photo gallery posted below. Don’t expect to see it in a dealership nearby in the future because this will most likely remain a concept car.
