The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently announced that a Herbie inspired Beetle, named the 53 Edition, will be launched soon in Spain.
After announcing its custom Beetle lineup for the 2012 SEMA Motor Show not too long ago, VW is placing the Beetle into the spotlights once again, this time by telling us that a Beetle 53 Edition will be launched in Spain soon. According to the car manufacturer, the VW Beetle 53 Edition in question has been inspired by the iconic Herbie character and it’s coming with features like the tri-color body stripes, the Beetle 53 badge on the glove box, the 17-inch alloy wheels and the standard equipment.
The VW Beetle 53 Edition will get a choice of three engines in Spain, with the entry-level version getting the 1.2 liter TSI with its 105 HP (77 kW), the mid-range coming with the 105 HP 1.6 liter TDI diesel and the most powerful version getting the 2.0 liter TDI producing 140 HP (103 kW). The model will go on sale soon in Spain and its starting price has been set at 22,090 euros.
