The VW Beetle Convertible Denim special series has been presented quite a few months ago, stomach during last year’s Los Angeles Auto Show and since it has waited for the warmer weather to come into effect.
Now that in most parts of the US the winter is finally receding, store the automaker has officially announced the pricing details ahead of the model’s arrival into showrooms. The special version will be exclusive to the US market where only 2,000 lucky owners will be able to snatch it. All of the 2,000 examples will come exclusively fitted with a dark blue soft top with a new denim-like textured fabric. Even exterior paints are severely limited – only Stonewashed Blue and a Pure White will be on offer. The cabin will be packing a custom light blue & silver theme with jeans-inspired seat pockets and red Beetle flags, while the upholstery with dark blue leatherette accents and white piping will have a light blue denim-color cloth. Under the hood sits a turbocharged 1.8-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine packing 170 bhp (126 kW) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Volkswagen of America also considers the limited series to be a value model and as such the Beetle Convertible Denim comes standard with the MIB II infotainment system with five-inch touchscreen display, support for USB and AUX, SD card slot, and Bluetooth connectivity. It also packs a rearview camera and owners can also link an iPhone or an iPod to the infotainment system. Pricing starts at $25,995 MSRP, plus $820 for destination and handling fees.
