The German based automaker Volkswagen is planning to introduce a production version of the Beetle Dune Concept which should hit the market in 2016.
Those of you who have fallen for the VW Beetle Dune Concept will be glad to find out that the model in question will get a production version, but there is some waiting to do before getting your hands on the brand new model as the company is planning to introduce it in 2016. The vehicle will be a beefed up version of the current Beetle and it will be offered as a convertible too.
The production version of the VW Beetle Dune Concept will easily stand out from a crowd thanks to its beefed up body and increased ride height but even if it looks like an off-roader, the model will continue to be offered with two-wheel drive, as the car manufacturer has no plans of offering a four-wheel drive version of it. As far as the engine lineup goes, this remains a mystery for the moment, but keep in mind that the concept car was equipped with a 2.0 liter unit, producing 210 HP (154 kW), connected to a 6-speed DSG.
