Volkswagen has recently announced its plans to offer the Beetle GSR limited edition in the United Kingdom, where the model will go on sale from 24, 900 GBP.
According to the car manufacturer, the Volkswagen Beetle GSR will be offered in 3,500 units worldwide and, out of these, 100 will make their way onto the UK auto market. The Volkswagen Beetle GSR is paying tribute the car with the same name, short for Gelb Schwarzer Renner, or Yellow Black Racer in German, which went on sale 40 years ago. The model in question is a reinterpretation of the original model, and this has been unveiled during the Chicago Motor Show, earlier this year.
The Volkswagen Beetle GSR is getting a black hood, bumpers and bootlid, black side stripes above the door sills, R-Line bumpers, black door mirror caps and 19-inch alloy wheels, unlike the original car’s 15-inch wheels. The model can also be ordered in grey and in black and it’s getting the black R-Line racing seats with contrasting yellow, leather wrapped steering wheel, numbered plaque and more. Power is provided by a 2.0L turbo petrol engine, which is good for 207 HP. The 0 to 62 mph sprint is done in 7.3s and top speed stands at 142 mph. The fuel economy is 38.7 mpg and the CO2 emissions stop at 169 g/km. Prices for the six-speed manual start at 24,900 GBP and the DSG version costs 1,500 GBP more.
