VW Beetle Herbie goes to Spain image

Volkswagen has recently announced its plans to introduce the Beetle Herbie Edition to Spain, where the model will be priced from 22,090 euros.

According to the German based automaker, the Volkswagen Beetle in question is actually named the 53 Edition and it’s paying tribute to the Walt Disney Pictures’ “Herbie” character, which was first seen back in 1968 in “The Love Bug”. The model in question is coming with tri-color body stripes, with 17-inch alloy wheels, with the Beetle 53 badge on the glove box and with the standard equipment. Other features include the Park Pilot parking assist sensor, tire pressure monitor or the number “53” and the “Escarabajo” logos.

Volkswagen says that the Beetle 53 Edition is coming with a choice of three engines in Spain, starting with the entry-level 1.2 liter TSI producing a total output of 105 HP (77 kW), the mid-range 1.6 liter TDI diesel with 105 HP and the 2.0 liter TDI diesel generating 140 HP (103 kW). The model will get the 6-speed DSG transmission on the 2.0 TDI and prices will start at 22,090 euros in Spain.
