After we announced the rumors about an Auto Express magazine announced that VW could reveal in 2012 a new Golf 6 Cabriolet based on the Golf 6. Most probably the new Golf Cabrio will compete against Ford Focus CC and Peuget 308 CC.
The engine lineup should mirror that of the hatch, with four new petrol units ranging from 80hp (60kW) to 160hp (118kW), and two diesels developing 110hp (81kW) and 140hp (103kW) respectively. A 240hp (179kW) GTI model should also be available.
The car will be able to put on its multilayered roof in less than 10 seconds – the retracting mechanism will work at a maximum speed of 30 km.
