The new generation of the Volkswagen Golf 7 R is expected to pack more than 300 BHP from its engine, once it will hit the market.
Petrol heads who love hot hatches have a wide choice of vehicles these days, starting with the premium Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and going through the Ford Focus ST, the Renault Megane RS or the Volkswagen Golf GTI, amongst many others. But while these are already available for order, rumors on future ones continue to appear. This is the case of the upcoming VW Golf 7 R, which is rumored to get an impressive output from its engine.
According to the guys at Auto Express, the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf 7 R will pack a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine under its hood, which will produce more than 300 BHP (224 kW). Power will be sent to the all-wheel drive system. The new Golf R will be 100 kg (220 lbs) heavier than the new GTI, while the previous R was 150 kg (330 lbs) heavier than the Golf 6 GTI. The new Golf 7 R will also receive some other tweaks to its suspension, along with a front limited slip differential. The model might be unveiled in Frankfurt, in September.
