The German automaker is seemingly in love with its smallest offering this summer – we have the GTI version ready to hit dealership and now the automaker is trying to entice the rest of the customer base with a more upscale version.

This new luxurious limited-edition model is honoring the 1982 Beetle “Special Bug,” and comes wrapped in a candy-like Savana Gold paint with contrasting black bits – the huge 17 inch alloys that somehow fitted inside the tiny wheel arches, or the dark side mirror caps optionally available in silver as well. The up! can also be had with the Black Pearl shade with the large 17-inch alloy wheels now getting the Savana Gold hue. There’s also a grey body decal at the bottom of the doors with “Special” lettering” – to show it’s not your run of the mill city car.

VW hasn’t officially revealed the interior – and they are only detailing it. As it turns out, this special luxury up! is getting a standard black roof liner, heated front seats, and ambient lighting, the word “up!” adorning the aluminum door tread plates and owners can even have the Savana Gold color on the dashboard and seat covers. At home in Germany it costs €13,625, with the striking goldie being an extra €150 – and can even have it as the 1.0 TGI compressed natural gas version from €16,600.
