Volkswagen celebrated on Wednesday, April 11th, the opening of its second showroom and workshop at Kampong Ampat, Singapore.
This second Volkswagen Centre Singapore, which takes over former Mazda showroom, will offer full sales and after-sales services. The 93,421-square-foot building has three stories and complements the main Volkswagen building at Alexandra Road. The company invested $1 million to renovate the showroom which can display 8 cars, 24 work bays and a fully stocked parts warehouse.
VW expects 70 cars to be serviced up here daily, compared to the Alexandra Road facility’s 31 work bays and 90 cars served daily. The company said that since about 40% of current Volkswagen customers live in the eastern part of Singapore, the new MacPherson facility will provide easier access for them.
This new showroom and workshop was a must, since VW brand’s popularity grows, and so some VW owners have complained that the waiting time for a service job can take up to one or two months, although Volkswagen Centre Singapore said ‘standard servicing’ can be performed within seven days.
Last year VW was the 4th most popular model in Singapore, after BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Toyota.
