The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has sold 4.24 (January to October 2010: 3.78) million vehicles from January to October 2011 – up 12.1 percent. October deliveries rose 10.4% to 430, 800.
In the United States, the German automaker reported 404, 900 (331,400) deliveries during the first ten month, a 22.2 percent increase over the prior year for the same period.
2012 Beetle achieved 1,516 units as production starts to ramp up while Jetta model sales were up 51.5 percent to 13,058 units. In addition, VW has sold 5,040 2012 Passat models for the month of October, its first full-month of sales for the Chattanooga-built vehicle and the most Passats sold since December 2005.
In the Asia / Pacific region, deliveries grew 14.1 percent. In its largest single market – China, Volkswagen Passenger Cars increased vehicle deliveries by 11.0 percent to 1.45 (1.30) million units.
The South America region also grew deliveries in this period, reporting a rise of 4.7 percent.
In Europe the maker of the Passat has sold 1.44 million vehicles, an increase of 9.9 percent compared to the same period of 2010.
There was substantial growth in Russia, where 91,000 (45,400; +100.4 percent) vehicles were sold.
