During the first 11 months of the year VW sold 5.22 million vehicles, up 11.2%, from 4.69 vehicles sold in 2011.
In November VW’s sales increased 11.5% to 504,800 vehicles, up from 453,000 units sold in November 2011. The automaker sold 1.58 million vehicles in Southern Europe, despite the difficult situation there, but decreased in Western Europe, excluding Germany, sales fell to 6.4% to 782,600. In Central and Eastern Europe sales increased 25.9% to 246,500 units. Sales in Russia were up 45.3% to 151,400 vehicles and in Germany up 0.5% to 552,200 units.
“The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has maintained the fast pace in November and recorded a strong increase. We anticipate a new delivery record for the full year, but also expect next year to be challenging”, said Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the VW Group and the VW Passenger Cars brand.
In the Asia-Pacific region sales increased 18% during the first 11 months to more than 2.12 million. China sales were up 19.2% to 1.92 million units, while in North America were up 25.5% to 563,000 units and in the US 35% to 394,100 units. South America saw an increase of 8.2% to 766,400 units.
