The Volkswagen Touareg is really getting old, even in its top R-Line trim. So tuners are here to spice things up. Or make you want the next generation even more. Your choice.
The aftermarket scene is riddled with projects that should be great and turned out utter crap. We’re still debating on this one from Je Design but we can tell you the jury is very close to a conviction. This is a Touareg R-Line that was caught by Je Design wanting to look sporty. But since this is an oldish guy you can’t expect just treating it to some modifications and he’ll be on his marry way. This is no Porsche Macan or Range Rover Evoque. Je design tried its hand with the pre-facelift model when it was young and some of the elements from that one are still here. But now it also packs a wide-body look and old-school two-tone wheels. The entire body kit is a bit steep – at €4, 760, but clients can order any components separately.
There’s even a spacer kit costing €410 to add 60mm to the front and 80mm to the rear wheels. Talking about the rims, these are 22-inch wheels with 295/30/R22 tires that go for €2,990 and if you factor in the electronic lowering module you’ll have to pay another €1,428. Under the hood sits the 3.0 TDI engine which has been upgraded to a good 285 hp and 650 Nm of torque. For €1,650 you’ll sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.1 seconds. Chip in another 595 Euro and you can have better looking and better sounding stainless steel twin tailpipes.
