VW’s transparent factory achieves production record in 2011 image

The Transparent Factory in Dresden achieved a new production record in its anniversary year, with more than 11,000 Phaetons manufactured in 2011.

The figure corresponds to an increase of 50 percent compared to the previous year. The number of visitors also continued to increase: approximately 145,000 visitors came to see the Transparent Factory, roughly one third more than 2010. The one millionth visitor was welcomed in July 2011.

Alongside production, the Transparent Factory also increased the number of Phaeton, Touareg and CC delivered directly at the factory. Nearly 2,000 customers came to Dresden in 2011 to take delivery of their cars, 80 percent more than in 2010.

„Our team has, together with all suppliers, made possible a wonderful present for the anniversary of the factory.We will maintain this high level in 2012,” said Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler, spokesman for the management of Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH.

The Transparent Factory also achieved a high level as a training center in 2011. Sebastian Hein was recognised as one of the best apprentices in the Volkswagen Group worldwide. The trainee vehicle mechatronic was awarded with the “Best Apprentice Award” in November for his excellent work.
