Fans of die hard F-150 pickup trucks can find a measure of enjoyment while they wait for the inevitable F-150 Raptor to reach showrooms – because Ford guru Shelby has decided to present its own version.
The 2016 Shelby F-150 is not one of those tuning jobs that you can’t make up the vehicle donor and F-150 fans will appreciate the classic Shelby appearance that go hand in hand with the billed performance upgrades (45 of them, no more, no less) that deliver a 700 horsepower monster. While the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has been billed by global product development vice president Raj Nair at only 450 horsepower, the 2016 Shelby F-150 bests that figure by a mile. Yep, the 5-liter Ti-VCT V8, which usually churns out 385 horsepower and 387 lb-ft (525 Nm) of torque has been supercharged, oversized cold air intake, fitted with billet aluminum high flow throttle body, aluminum heat exchange, and high flow injectors and delivered the mad final result. By the way, sound enthusiasts will also appreciate the Borla dual exhaust system.
Off road capabilities have been enhanced as well through the use of 2.5-inch internal bypass reservoir shock absorbers with dual speed adjusters coming from Fox, while the 18-inch Shelby alloys have been clad in BF Goodrich All-Terrain K02 tires. Fans should also hurry up because only 500 units of the 2016 Shelby F-150 will be on offer, fortunately through a select network of official Ford dealers. You might want to hold on the order though, as the asking price starts at $98,995.
