Formula 1 will be back in the United States in 2012 on a track to be built especially for the event if a proposed long-term deal runs to completion
The chosen city is Austin, the Texas state capital. F1 and state officials jointly announced the agreement on Tuesday with the promise that a US GP would run there each year until at least 2021.
Bernie Ecclestone has used his website to announce that a US GP will be held in Austin, Texas from 2012 to 2021. It will be the first F1 event held in the state since the one-off race at Dallas in 1984.
The agreement, including a purpose-built circuit being planned, marked the return of the world’s grandest moto racing tournament to the United States after the 2000-2007 U.S. GP on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
