Yokohama to supply control tires to FIA Formula 2 image

Yokohama, the Japanese tiremaker announced that will supply control tires for the FIA Formula 2 Championship, starting at Silverstone in the United Kingdom on April 13.

The announcement comes shortly after Yokohama said last month that will begin supplying control tires for the ADAC GT Masters.

Yokohama plans to build a new 4.4 billion yen ($53 million) factory in the state of Haryana adjacent to Delhi, India. The company plans to begin operating the plant at an annual production capacity of 700,000 tires from July 2014.

Yokohama posted net income of 11.6 billion yen on operating income of 26.3 billion yen and net sales of 465.1 billion yen in the nine-month fiscal period.

In the United States, Yokohama Tire Corporation participates in The American Le Mans Series ALMS and Red Line Time Attack, is the official tire supplier of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge[1] and World Touring Car Championship and has been the official tire supplier of the Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup race since 1983.
