Aston Martin Confirms V12 Zagato Production at £330,000
Aston Martin will build a limited run of the V12 Zagato, blending the V12 Vantage’s chassis with bespoke aluminium and carbon fibre bodywork, with production starting summer 2012.
Aston Martin has confirmed it will produce the V12 Zagato, with the first customer cars scheduled for delivery from summer 2012. The car, which made its debut at the Villa d’Este Concours in June 2011, will cost £330,000 before options and taxes.
The V12 Zagato is based on the V12 Vantage’s bonded aluminium platform, but wears a bespoke body built from a combination of hand-formed aluminium and carbon fibre panels. The car was designed in collaboration with Italian design house Zagato, continuing a relationship that dates back to the 1960s.
Under the bonnet sits Aston Martin’s 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, producing 510bhp (517PS) and 570Nm of torque. This is the same powertrain found in the V12 Vantage, with a six-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Performance figures have not been separately quoted, but the underlying V12 Vantage is capable of 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds.
Production details and exclusivity
Aston Martin will build the V12 Zagato at its headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire. The company has not publicly confirmed the exact production number, but described the run as strictly limited and is accepting orders on a first come, first served basis. Each car will be assembled by hand, with the aluminium body panels shaped using traditional techniques.
Pricing starts at £330,000 before local taxes or options, placing the V12 Zagato well above the standard V12 Vantage. Buyers are expected to be collectors and long-standing Aston Martin customers, given the car’s rarity and bespoke construction. The order book opened in July 2011, with production set to begin in summer 2012.
