2015 Ford Galaxy launches in the UK from £26,445
Ford's new seven-seat Galaxy MPV arrives in British showrooms this summer, offering a choice of petrol and diesel engines, advanced seating features and three trim levels.
Ford has confirmed UK pricing for the 2015 Galaxy, with the new seven-seat MPV starting at £26,445 and first deliveries scheduled for the summer. The model targets family buyers and competes directly with the Volkswagen Sharan and SEAT Alhambra.
The third-generation Galaxy introduces several features to the segment, including a power-operated third row of seats that folds flat or rises at the press of a button. Both the second and third rows can be stowed electrically from the centre console, improving flexibility for large families or those needing extra load space. Ford claims this is a first for the MPV sector.
Inside, the new Galaxy features a customisable 10-inch digital instrument cluster and an additional 20 litres of underfloor boot storage. The SYNC2 infotainment system is included, and higher trims add further equipment. The car is built on the same platform as the latest Mondeo and S-Max, adopting Ford’s integral link rear suspension for improved ride comfort. Self-levelling rear suspension is also available, and drivers can choose between Comfort, Normal or Sport drive modes.
Engine range and trims
The Galaxy offers two EcoBoost petrol engines: a 1.5-litre with 158bhp and a 2.0-litre with 237bhp. Diesel buyers have the choice of a 2.0-litre TDCi in single-turbo form with outputs of 118bhp, 148bhp or 178bhp, or a 207bhp twin-turbo version delivering 332lb ft of torque. All engines meet the latest emissions standards, and manual or automatic transmissions are available depending on the engine.
Three equipment grades are offered: Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X. The entry-level Zetec starts at £26,445, while the Titanium X tops the range from £33,095. Standard equipment includes the power-folding rear seats, digital display and SYNC2 system, with further features added as buyers move up the range.
How the 2015 Galaxy fits into Ford’s UK line-up
The Galaxy remains Ford’s largest MPV, sitting above the S-Max in the range. Its launch follows the arrival of new Mondeo-based models, including the S-Max and the latest Mondeo itself. The combination of flexible seating, new technology and a broad engine line-up is aimed at keeping the Galaxy competitive in a shrinking but still relevant segment for large families and executive shuttle operators.
