Chrysler suspends workers caught drinking and smoking marijuana during lunch image

Chrysler Group LLC has suspended nine workers for allegedly drinking and smoking marijuana before their shifts at a Michigan plant.

Not only are they smokin’ and drinkin’ before heading back to work – but they are doing it in a small parking area across the street from their Local UAW hall. More, one TV reporter also followed one factory worker around as he made several trips to the party store to buy beer before going to work.
Chrysler has responded by enforcing suspensions to at least nine workers without pay while further investigations are completed. The automaker has issued an announcement about the matter:

“To date, all nine employees have been suspended indefinitely without pay pending further investigation. While the evidence seems conclusive, the Company needs to act in accordance with corporate policy and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement before further action is taken. The investigation is ongoing.”

This is not the first time when an event like these happens. Last fall, the company fired two workers and gave two others unpaid, one-month layoffs after the station took video of them drinking beer before the start of their shift at a Detroit assembly plant.
