Volkswagen has announced unofficially that it has more clients interested in the upcoming XL1 than actual vehicles available for sale.
The Volkswagen XL1 will cost approximately 110,000 euros on the company’s local auto market but that won’t stop people in buying it, even if for the money spent they won’t get sports car performance or some exaggerated luxury. But this isn’t a drawback in selling the car as the company has recently told us that it has more customers interested in it than vehicles available for sale, so a selection process will soon start, which will share the 200 units available between their future owners.
“Since we have many more interested customers than vehicles, we will have a selection process. At the moment we cannot give any more information on this process”, as the company has recently told us.
The Volkswagen XL1 is taking its power from a two-cylinder 800cc diesel engine, which is good for 47 HP. The unit is backed up by an electric motor, providing an extra 27 HP, mated to a 5.5 kWh battery pack. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint in the XL1 takes 12.7 seconds and top speed stands at 160 km/h (100 mph). The model has an electric driving range of 50 km (31 miles) and it can return 313 mpg UK.
