Skoda Superb Combi SportLine debuts at 2015 Frankfurt show
Skoda has launched the Superb Combi SportLine at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, adding a sportier trim to its flagship estate with revised suspension and black styling details.
Skoda has introduced the Superb Combi SportLine at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, expanding its estate range with a new trim that adds sportier styling and a revised suspension setup. The SportLine joins the regular Superb Combi and other Skoda models on display at the event, including the GreenLine and Rapid Monte Carlo.
SportLine styling and chassis changes
The Superb Combi SportLine is positioned as a more dynamic-looking alternative to the standard estate. Exterior changes include black detailing on the grille, mirrors and window surrounds, as well as privacy glass for the rear windows. Buyers can choose between 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, both finished in black to match the trim. The car sits 15mm lower than the standard model thanks to a revised sports suspension, which is designed to sharpen handling without sacrificing the Superb’s practicality.
Interior and engine options
Inside, the SportLine receives sports seats, aluminium pedals and a three-spoke leather sports steering wheel. Other enhancements include subtle trim updates that distinguish it from lesser models. The SportLine is available with the full range of petrol and diesel engines offered in the Superb Combi, except for the entry-level 1.4 TSI and 1.6 TDI units. This means buyers can select from a variety of power outputs, paired with manual or DSG transmissions, depending on market.
Market position and availability
The Superb Combi SportLine sits at the top end of the Superb estate range, aimed at buyers seeking a blend of practicality and a sportier appearance. The regular Superb saloon had already reached showrooms in June 2015, and the Combi variant was set to arrive in selected markets from September. The SportLine’s introduction at Frankfurt signals Skoda’s intent to compete with other mainstream estates offering performance-inspired trims, such as the Ford Mondeo ST-Line and Volkswagen Passat R-Line.
